State Schools

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at a state school or center. Please follow these steps to get started.

Step 1: Choose a state school

State schools and centers are located in the following Texas cities: Abilene, Austin, Brenham, Corpus Christi, Denton, El Paso, Lubbock, Lufkin, Mexia, Richmond, San Angelo and San Antonio.

If you are not familiar with our state schools, please visit their website. You can find them in the drop down menu below.

Step 2: Register as a volunteer

Complete the Volunteer Application, Form 8653, to officially register as a volunteer. You can get to the application by clicking on the button on this page. Please fax your completed volunteer application to 512-438-4829 or e-mail your completed application to Volunteerdads@dads.state.tx.us.

By clicking the link below you will directed to the volunteer page for state schools/centers. For the protection and safety of people living in state schools/centers the process for volunteering requires additional registration requirements and computer based training.

Please be sure to check the Silver Lining option in the "Volunteer Interest/Background" section of the form.
